Your curriculum
Basics - Theory & Practice I
In the first semester, you will immerse yourself in the world of audio design. You will learn basic audio engineering, miking and recording techniques. You will also learn about the physical principles of acoustics and be introduced to common DAW systems (Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton Live). In your first practical projects, you will learn how to build up your own works dramaturgically, realise them compositionally and technically and change their effect through sound design. In addition to an initial excursion into the history of popular music, you will receive piano lessons to improve your routine on the instrument for your own compositional work.

In the sixth semester, you decide on a project from the areas of Music Technology & Art, Music Production, Sound Design or Composition and choose your individual specialisation. Your specialisation project will be carried out in cooperation with the B.A. Visual and Interactive Media and B.A. Creative Industries Management degree programmes. You will learn how to develop instruments and interfaces and immerse yourself in production techniques for 3D audio mixing and multi-channel systems. Building on this, you will consolidate your knowledge in a module of your choice from the specialist area of sound: music technology or sound design. Accompanying guest lectures and excursions provide you with important practical input and the opportunity to learn from the experiences of others.

Once again, you will choose a specialisation project, but now you will carry it out independently as an individual project. Further specialisation is possible in the areas of game audio, film music and dramaturgy. You will also pass on your knowledge to younger students: you will train your didactic and pedagogical skills in self-directed foundation courses. The semester concludes with the writing of your Bachelor's thesis.
