Admission of Professionally Qualified Applicants

From 1 January 2025, new regulations for professionally qualified individuals will apply in accordance with the Baden-Württemberg Higher Education Act (LHG), until amended admission and enrolment regulations come into force. Professionally qualified individuals are those who:

  1. Have completed a recognised advanced vocational training programme (e.g. Meister, Fachwirt). Following a consultation, they will be granted direct access to higher education in accordance with Section 58(2)(5) of the LHG.
  2. Have completed at least two years’ relevant vocational training and have at least three years’ professional experience. They will be granted subject-specific entry eligibility upon passing an aptitude test in accordance with Section 58(2)(6) of the LHG.

Until the new statutory order on university-specific entrance examinations (Section 58(3a)) and trial study periods (Section 58(3b)) comes into force, the aptitude test shall remain valid in accordance with the previous regulations.

As the modules are taught in English, we require you to provide one of the following English language tests: 

  • B2 First Cambridge: grade A or B
  • CAE: grade A, B or C
  • CPE: grade A, B or C
  • Duolingo Certificate: 110
  • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 / IELTS (Indicator) online: 6.5 
  • Linguaskill: 176 (all four skills required)
  • Passport Skills Plus Test: 6.5
  • Pearson English Test Academic (PTE-A): 59 (in total)
  • TOEIC: 785 (Listening/Reading 785, Speaking 160, Writing 150)
  • TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Home Edition: 87
