Admission Professionally qualified applicants
From 1 January 2025, new regulations for professionally qualified individuals will apply in accordance with the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act (LHG) until amended admission and enrolment regulations come into force. Professionally qualified individuals are those who:
- Have completed recognised advanced vocational training (e.g. master craftsman, specialist). After a consultation, they are granted direct access to higher education in accordance with Section 58 (2) No. 5 LHG.
- Have completed at least two years of relevant vocational training and have at least three years of professional experience. They are granted subject-specific access after passing an aptitude test in accordance with Section 58 (2) No. 6 LHG.
Until the new legal regulation on university-specific entrance examinations (Section 58 (3a)) and trial studies (Section 58 (3b)) comes into force, the aptitude test remains valid under the previous regulations.
Language proficiency
Here are the English language requirements you should meet:
- TOEFL: 87 ibt (direct admission)
- TOEFL: 79 – 86 ibt (with additional agreement)
- TOEIC: 785 (Listening/Reading 785, Speaking 160, Writing 150)
- IELTS/ IELTS ONLINE (academic): 6.5 on average. Any deviations from this are governed by the current version of the Language Centre guidelines.
- CAE (grade A, B, or C)
- CPE (grade A, B or C)
- Pearson English Test Academic (PTE-A): 59 points
- Linguaskill: 176 - 184 (CES) - all four skills required
- Duolingo: 110 points
