Bio:
Hans-Martin Buff started his career as a recording engineer and music producer at Pachyderm Studios in Minnesota, USA, where he brewed excellent coffee and honed his craft as an assistant on projects like the multi-platinum album Throwing Copper by the band Live.

He worked his way through several rock factories in Minnesota before finding a permanent home at Prince's Paisley Park Studios, where he served as his "Personal Engineer" for four funky years. During this time, he was not only responsible for recording Prince's work but also handled studio needs for global stars like No Doubt, Chaka Khan, and Larry Graham.

Since returning to Germany in 2001, Hans-Martin has worked freelance, assisting a wide range of national and international artists, including the Scorpions, with whom he has been working in the studio since 2008. Since 2018, Hans-Martin has been dedicated to 3D audio, especially for headphones, helping artists explore the vast musical possibilities of immersive experiences.

Hans-Martin is part of the team at msm-studios Munich-Berlin and Real World Studios in England. For his work on Peter Gabriel’s i/o (In-Side Mix), he was awarded the 2025 Grammy for Best Immersive Audio Album.
