Selection procedure
The application process takes place in two parts. Applicants who pass the first part will be invited to the entrance examination.
Part 1: Application submission and pre-selection
- Curriculum vitae in tabular form
- Digital artistic portfolio (in English or German) with a focus on musical activity
- Proof of education (BA in Music or an equivalent degree with at least 180 ECTS). If applicable, proof of previous study periods as well as completed academic achievements and examination results (in English or German)
- Proof of sufficient knowledge of English (level B2)

Part 2: Entrance examination
- A live performance on site or via video streaming of three pieces or parts of works from at least two different cultural traditions as well as an original composition or improvisation with a minimum duration of 20 minutes
- A digital presentation or documentation in another artistic genre, such as visual arts, literature, performing arts or new media
- An oral interview (to assess your creativity, personality, motivation and future plans), approx. 20 minutes
The exact duration of the entrance exam is determined by the admissions committee.

We do not have any application deadlines. This is what your application process looks like:
- If you are interested in the Bachelor's degree programme in World Music, you can send us your application easily and convenientlyonline.
- If you have any technical difficulties with the online application or if you have any questions about your application, your contact person will be happy to help you.
- If you fulfil the admission requirements, we will invite you to a selection process.
- If you are successful in the selection process, you will receive an acceptance letter and a study contract from us.
- You sign the study contract and send it back to us.
- You pay the enrolment fee.
- If you come from a non-EU country, you pay your tuition fee one semester in advance in addition to the registration fee. From the second semester onwards, payments for the remaining semesters are due six weeks before the end of the study period you have already paid for.
- We will send you your letter of admission.
- You take part in our Startklar days - and off you go with your studies!
