SRH Connects: Strengthening International Academic Networks

Brief description

Since January 1, 2026, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is funding the project “SRH Connects: Strengthening International Academic Networks” (short: SRH Connects) with funds from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR). The project builds on the experience gained from its predecessor, “International Research Experience @SRH,” and strengthens SRH University’s international collaboration with partner universities in India and Ghana.

SRH Connects consists of four sub-goals:

Strengthening international partnerships: SRH Connects supports the expansion of SRH University’s international network. The project will intensify existing contacts with partner universities in India and Ghana and lay the groundwork for new strategic partnerships. In addition, contacts with industry partners in Germany, India, and Ghana will be established or further developed to link selected activities in teaching, research, and professional practice.

Practice- and research-oriented modules: A central component of the project is the development of the “Sustainability Collaboration Labs – Waste Management and Recycling”. The planned module combines virtual and in-person formats and brings students and faculty together in international and interdisciplinary teams. The content focuses on practical issues in the areas of waste management, recycling, and sustainable resource use.

Improving the framework conditions for cooperative doctorates: In collaboration with partner universities, we are improving the framework conditions for cooperative doctorates. This includes the creation of new formats for international doctoral candidates, such as workshops on science communication and international networking, as well as peer-coaching opportunities. Scholarships awarded in the scope of the project will promote mobility between partner institutions. Starting in 2027, the digital lecture series “Research Without Borders” will offer doctoral candidates a platform for international networking and academic exchange.

Programs for Administration and Services: Another key focus is on administrative and service areas which represent important points of contact for international students, faculty, and researchers in everyday university life. As part of the project, language courses and training sessions on intercultural and diversity competencies will support SRH staff in continuously and purposefully developing the university’s welcoming culture.
