Your Ideas to Practice:Developing sustainable solutions for water pollution in a global cooperation (YIP-Aqua II)

Brief description
Developing sustainable solutions for water pollution in a global cooperation
The YIP II project (“Your Ideas to Practice”) is an international educational initiative funded by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation as part of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for students - BWS plus. It is a cooperation between the SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg in Germany, the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (UNIVA) in Mexico and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. The aim of the project is to sensitize young students to the development of sustainable solutions to combat water pollution through global cooperation. The focus is on innovative technical approaches to water treatment, which should help to avoid or reduce local conflicts of use. The project consists of several consecutive elements, including a kick-off on World Water Day, online workshops and a series of webinars, a study visit to Germany, a practical training phase in Ghana and a concluding conference. The participants work in international teams to develop practical solutions, such as the sustainable cleaning of the heavily polluted Okyi-Amisa River in Ghana. YIP II combines theoretical knowledge with practical application and promotes intercultural project management as well as a deeper understanding of global environmental problems.
