About me

Prof. Dr Claudia Barthel was a deputy professor from 1 September 2018 to 28 February 2019 and has been a professor in the Department of Physiotherapy in the training-integrated degree programme at SRH University, Stuttgart campus, since 1 March 2019. Since 1 April 2025, she has also been Head of the Master's degree programme in Neurorehabilitation.

After training as a physiotherapist in 2007, Prof. Dr Claudia Barthel completed her B.Sc. in Physiotherapy at HAWK Hildesheim in 2009. During her time as a Bachelor's student and afterwards, she worked as a physiotherapist in the outpatient and inpatient sectors. In 2013, she received her M.Sc. (cum laude) in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, specialising in Neurology, from the University of Leuven (Belgium).

In 2018, she obtained her PhD, with a Marie Curie scholarship from the EU, at the Radboud University Medical Center and Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, Nijmegen (Netherlands) on the topic of ‘freezing of gait’ in Parkinson's disease.

She is actively involved in therapeutic research on physiotherapeutic issues, as evidenced by numerous publications in renowned national and international journals such as ‘Neurology’ and ‘Disability and rehabilitation’.
