Prof. Dr Dr Philipp Plugmann has been Professor of Interdisciplinary Periodontology and Prevention in the Dental Hygienist Bachelor's degree programme at the Leverkusen campus of the SRH University of Applied Sciences for Health since 1 February 2020.

After studying dentistry at the University of Cologne and passing the state examination in 2000, he completed his doctorate in 2005 at the University Hospital of Cologne in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery while working to set up a practice. In addition, he completed a multi-year doctoral programme in medical sciences (grade: very good) at the Private University of the Principality of Liechtenstein (UFL) in 2013 while working.

He holds a Master of Science in Periodontology and Implant Therapy from DGParo (grade 1.6), a Master of Business Administration specialising in Health Care Management and a Master of Science in Business Innovation. He has published a total of 110 publications in the fields of dentistry, innovation and technology and has edited 16 books in German and English. His first book on future trends in medical technology was reviewed in 2012 by CISCO, a major US technology company. His second book, ‘Innovationsumgebungen gestalten’, published by Springer Gabler Verlag in 2018, had over 100,000 chapter downloads in the first 30 months.
