Helping young families to finance their studies

Studying poses special challenges for families: If you invest time in your studies as a family member, you also have to take care of children or relatives in need of care. As a family-friendly university, we would like to make it easier for you to finance this special life situation with the SRH Scholarship for Families.

SRH Scholarships for Students with Families

The Scholarship can be awarded to prospective students and current students who would like to study alongside parental leave or raising children, caring for a relative or a difficult family situation (e.g. orphan).

If you would like to apply for the scholarship, you must fulfil the following eligibility requirements:

  • Enrolment or a regular application for a degree programme at SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg (all locations) and fulfilment of the university admission requirements and admission criteria for this degree programme. Dual degree programmes are excluded from the funding.
  • Good academic or school performance
  • Child or family member in need of care or other difficult family situation (e.g. orphan)

The following documents are required for the application:

  • Letter of motivation for the scholarship
  • A letter of recommendation from:a teacher:a university teacher:a university teacher from the respective field of study
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Current overview of grades from your previous studies, if applicable
  • School leaving certificate, if applicable, certificate of a first university degree
  • Certificate of enrolment or signed study contract for applicants:in from EEA countries* or final admission letter for applicants:in from non-EEA countries**
  • Proof of family circumstances (e.g. birth certificate of children, proof of care level, etc.)
  • If applicable, proof of special qualifications for the degree programme (e.g. proof of community or social commitment, special skills, language certificates, awards, stays abroad, certificates of internships relevant to studies, certificates of vocational training, etc.)
  • If applicable, reasons that have had an aggravating or hindering effect on the previous educational biography, e.g. financial or family difficulties, impairment, first-time graduate, etc.

*For applicants from EEA countries: Please note that you must upload the signed study contract and the enrolment fee must be paid before the scholarship committee meets (mid-October for the winter semester).

**For applicants from non-EEA countries: You can apply with the Pre Admission Letter. However, you must have the Final Admission Letter (fees must be paid) before the Scholarship Committee meets and decides on the award of the scholarship (mid-October for the winter semester). If you are awarded the scholarship, the tuition fees you have already paid will be refunded.

The application period for the winter semester 2025/26 starts on Tuesday, July 15 at 8:00 a.m. and ends on Thursday, August 14 at 11:59 p.m.

The scholarship is a full scholarship. This means for you: You do not have to pay tuition fees during the standard period of study.

How to apply for a Scholarship

Please submit your application via our application portal. This portal will be activated for submissions for the winter semester 2025/26 from July 15 to August 14. Submissions are not possible outside of the application period. When submitting your application documents, please note that only complete, timely, and correctly submitted applications can be considered for scholarship award.
