International award for SRH professors: Health psychology textbook wins publication prize

Three professors at SRH University have been honoured for their internationally recognised textbook on health psychology. They are highlighting, together with their students the strong practical focus and international character of research at SRH.

At the SRH University New Year’s reception in Heidelberg, SRH University presented the publication prize in the category International Research Experience (HAW.International) to the academic volume Health Psychology: Applications in Clinical and Sports Contexts, published by Nomos. The edited book was recognised for its international focus and was accepted in person by the three SRH professors and editors, Maren Weiss, Philipp Stang and Martin Köllner.

The project originated from a specialist conference held at the SRH Campus in Fürth and subsequently developed into an international collaboration involving researchers from several countries, including Germany, Austria and Turkey. The aim of the publication is to bring together current developments in health psychology from an international perspective. “In an increasingly complex and stressful world, mental health is becoming ever more important,” says co-editor Martin G. Köllner.

The volume brings together three key areas of health psychology: prevention, sport psychology and clinical psychology. The individual contributions demonstrate how current research findings can be directly translated into professional practice and teaching.

The project is of particular value to students. They are not only the intended audience for the book, but were also actively involved in its creation. Several SRH students contributed as co-authors to individual chapters, gaining first-hand experience of international research collaboration.
