Frankfurt am Main/Berlin, 10 February 2026 – SRH Campus Berlin has been honoured with a German Design Award. The international jury recognises the interior architectural design, the brand-defining spatial staging and the innovative learning environment of SRH University’s Berlin campus. The award is not intended as a traditional seal of quality, but rather as recognition of a design process that is consistently aligned with the needs of students and staff.

A campus that brings learning, interaction and brand together

SRH Campus Berlin was conceived as a place that facilitates learning, encourages exchange and makes SRH’s values tangible. The design follows a clear strategic approach: spaces are intended to provide orientation, create identity and at the same time respond flexibly to the requirements of modern higher education.

“Our campus is far more than a building. It is a place for learning and living that reflects our ethos: students and staff are at the heart of everything we do,” says Dr Thorsten Bagschik, Managing Director of SRH University. “We are delighted that an international jury has recognised this approach – especially for the teams who developed this campus with great passion.”

Design as a team effort

The award explicitly highlights the interdisciplinary collaboration behind the project: interior architecture, higher education development, communications, teaching, IT and facility management worked together to create an environment that is functional, aesthetic and identity-forming. The concept, planning and implementation of the Berlin campus design – based on the “brand-in-space” guidelines developed by Munich-based brand agency Martin et Karczinski – were carried out by Berlin creative agency dan pearlman under the direction of Prof. Marcus Fischer, Professor of Brand Management and Brand Experience at SRH University.

The campus demonstrates how strategic design can support higher education:

  • Orientation & clarity: A clear spatial structure with specialist rooms, seminar and service areas as well as social spaces helps students find their way into everyday academic life.
  • Brand experience: Colours, forms and materials translate SRH’s values into a visible and tangible environment – for example in the reception area with cafeteria.
  • Learning-friendly atmosphere: Flexible spaces, modern technology and open communication zones encourage collaborative working and individual learning paths.
  • Well-being & sense of belonging: The design strengthens the feeling of community and, with generous social areas and high-quality specialist facilities such as film, photography and music studios as well as technical laboratories, creates an environment in which people enjoy learning and working.

Recognition of a future-oriented approach to higher education

In this context, the German Design Award serves as an opportunity to make the underlying vision visible: university spaces as active contributors to learning success and campus life. “SRH Campus Berlin is an exemplary illustration of how design can be used strategically to bring together educational quality, brand identity and user experience,” explains Simone Kuhn, Head of Strategic Brand Management and Innovation Management at SRH.
