Young Researchers for the Rhine-Neckar Region: “Jugend forscht” Inspires in Heidelberg

At the end of February, SRH University once again hosted the “Jugend forscht” regional competition for North Baden at its Heidelberg campus – the second time it has welcomed the event as host.

A large crowd is seated in a modern event space while a speaker is giving a presentation on stage.

51 projects, 107 participants from 15 schools: On 24 and 25 February 2026, the regional competition of Jugend forscht once again turned the SRH Campus Heidelberg into a hub of young scientific talent in the Rhine-Neckar region.

Prof. Dr Carsten Diener, Vice-Rector of SRH University, emphasised the regional significance: “Jugend forscht is science promotion in action. Here we see young people engaging intellectually with the challenges of our time – with discipline, creativity, and the ambition to make a real difference.”

Whether sustainable urban development, artificial intelligence or innovative technological solutions – the projects impressively demonstrate the innovative potential within the region’s schools. The judging criteria included scientific quality, methodological rigour, degree of innovation, and practical relevance.

The following projects will represent the Rhine-Neckar region in the state competition:

  • Chemistry (Junior): “Party T-Shirts mit verschiedenen pH-Werten” – Katharina Dickau & Jingyi Shuai, Ludwig-Frank-Gymnasium
