SRH University receives Red Dot Award for its Berlin campus

An international jury has recognised the design concept for the spatial layout and brand presentation of the Berlin campus.

The SRH University campus in Berlin has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2026. The award recognised the campus’s design concept, which combines interior design, brand presentation and the learning environment. Competing against an international field of entrants featuring numerous submissions from agencies, designers and companies, the project impressed the Red Dot jury with its outstanding design and creative quality.

“We are delighted to receive this award. The Berlin campus is a vital location for SRH University – for our students and staff, and for what we stand for as a university. Our aim is to create an environment that supports independent, practice-oriented learning and offers space for collaboration. The fact that this concept has now been honoured with the Red Dot Award makes us particularly proud,” says Dr Thorsten Bagschik, Managing Director of SRH University.

Design becomes part of everyday university life

The development of the campus was not solely focused on aesthetic considerations. The spaces were designed to provide clear wayfinding and to support different forms of learning and working. A clear structure, flexible spatial concepts, modern technical facilities and open-plan areas create an environment tailored to the requirements of modern university teaching.

“For us, it is crucial that the brand is reflected not only in the design, but throughout the entire campus experience. From wayfinding to the design of the learning and work areas, right through to the open communal spaces, colours, shapes, materials and communication all interplay with one another. This creates an inspiring place that embodies what SRH stands for: ‘Passion for Life’ and the commitment to supporting people on their journey towards a self-determined life,” says Prof. Marcus Fischer, Professor of Brand Management and Brand Presentation at SRH University.

International recognition for the Berlin campus

The design concept for the Berlin campus is based on the ‘Brand-in-Space’ guidelines developed by the Munich-based brand agency Martin et Karczinski and was implemented by the Berlin-based creative agency dan pearlman under the direction of Prof. Marcus Fischer.

The award now also raises the profile of the Berlin campus internationally: the award-winning project will be featured in the International Yearbook Brands & Communication Design, on the Red Dot website and in exhibitions.
