On 18 September 2026, an intercultural concert will take place at the Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg as part of the ‘Bridges’ project.
Music creates spaces for connection, listening and community – even in places where people’s lives are shaped by displacement, new beginnings and uncertainty. Since January 2025, the ‘Bridges’ project has been led by Prof. Dr Alexander F. Wormit from SRH University; it supports refugee children, teenagers and young adults through music therapy and music education programmes.
Together with Verein für Interkulturelle Musik Metropolregion e.V., Kulturhaus Karlstorbahnhof e.V., Caritasverband Heidelberg e.V. and Asylarbeitskreis Heidelberg e.V., the university is committed to the integration and empowerment of young refugees.
Music therapist Samuel Gracida (M.A.) now coordinates a team of thirteen specialists in music therapy, music education and professional music, who regularly work with young refugees aged between 5 and 26 at four communal accommodation centres in Heidelberg. Particular highlights of the project are the intercultural concerts, which take place several times a year in collaboration with professional musicians, including at the Karlstorbahnhof.
The concert evening on 18 September begins at 5 pm with international food and opportunities to socialise in the foyer. From 6 pm, project participants and the Bridges team will take to the stage together to present music from different cultures, their own songs, joint arrangements and musical stories created over the course of the year.
The concert invites you to experience diversity, discover new perspectives and spend an evening together filled with music and socialising. Admission is free. Please register in advance.
