Physiotherapy up close – a visit to a modern rehabilitation clinic

Reading Time: 3 Min.

What it’s all about:

  • Field trip offers insights into modern neurological rehabilitation
  • Students experience everyday therapy and innovative treatment concepts
  • Theory is brought to life through hands-on practical experience

What is modern neurological rehabilitation like in practice? This is exactly what students on the Bachelor’s degree programme in Physiotherapy at SRH University were able to experience, together with Prof. Dr Claudia Barthel.

As part of an excursion to the SRH Gesundheitszentrum Waldbronn, they gained fascinating insights into the new gait and arm laboratory, observed daily life on the ward and learnt about various assistive devices in use. The programme also included a visit to the MTT (Medical Training Therapy) area, the swimming pool and the clinic’s extensive outdoor area, which features facilities such as a barefoot trail, a Kneipp pool and forest bathing.

A group of six people is observing and supporting a man who is training to walk with a special device.

In addition, the physiotherapists introduced the group to the treatment programme and arranged for them to take part in occupational therapy sessions. It was particularly enriching to meet patients with different neurological conditions and to link the theoretical content of the course with concrete practical experience.

The field trip provided a striking demonstration of how modern, evidence-based and guideline-compliant neurological rehabilitation is implemented today. A big thank you goes to our colleagues at the SRH Gesundheitszentrum Waldbronn for this informative and inspiring day! 😊
