Here’s what it’s all about:

  • SRH students forge key industry contacts at Gamescom
  • Heidelberg teams are working on their future in the games industry
  • Goal for 2026: To have their own stand at Gamescom

Gamescom in Cologne is regarded as Europe’s largest gaming event – and right at the heart of it all: students from SRH University Campus Heidelberg. Two teams from the Virtual Reality & Game Development course seized the opportunity to make valuable contacts within the industry. 🤝

The nine-member team Moon Lake Studios is currently working on a game in which the protagonists must fight their way out of a laboratory – presenting players with exciting moral dilemmas. Despite difficult funding conditions, they intend to pursue their path and remain as independent as possible.

The ENSO studio, consisting of four fellow students from Heidelberg, is also participating with great ambition. Alongside creative work on new games, they are closely examining the legal and financial framework conditions that are crucial for running their own studio. 💻

If you’re really passionate about something, you’ll overcome even those kinds of obstacles and have fun doing it.

For both teams, Gamescom was much more than just a visit to a trade fair: they made the most of their time there to network, talk to publishers and attend specialist forums. Their goal: to have their own stand as early as next year – and thus raise their profile even further within the industry and among the general public.

Through their commitment, the students at SRH University Campus Heidelberg demonstrate just how practical and forward-looking the training in game development is – and how a project idea can turn into a real career prospect. 😎
