Entrepreneur Wolfgang Grenke has been appointed as the new Chairman of the University Board of SRH University. The governing body of the private university elected the Honorary President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Industrie- und Handelskammer) Karlsruhe unanimously. SRH University, headquartered in Heidelberg, operates 18 campuses across Germany and is part of SRH, one of the largest education and healthcare providers in the country.

Wolfgang Grenke succeeds Prof. Dr. Christof Hettich. The former Chief Executive Officer of SRH passed away unexpectedly in February. With the appointment of Wolfgang Grenke, SRH University is further strengthening its strategic focus, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship and practice-oriented education, while also setting new impulses for the development of future-ready study programmes.

Wolfgang Grenke has maintained close ties with SRH for many years. As early as 2017, he was appointed Honorary Senator by the then SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences (now SRH University Campus Berlin), in particular for his commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and his efforts to foster knowledge transfer between business and academia. He was also instrumental in establishing the annual SRH Grenke Innovation Festival. As the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of grenke AG, he brings extensive entrepreneurial experience to his new role. The Grenke family is the principal shareholder of the company, which now operates in more than 30 countries. From 2016 to 2022, he also served as President of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce Association (Baden-Württembergischer Industrie- und Handelskammertag) and, in this capacity, was a member of the Executive Board of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammer, DIHK).

“SRH University uniquely combines entrepreneurial thinking, practice-oriented education, and international perspectives. This combination has inspired me for many years,” said Wolfgang Grenke. “I am delighted to contribute even more actively to the further development of the university in my role as Chairman of the University Board.”

SRH University stands for a close integration of theory and practice, as well as a consistently application-oriented approach to teaching. With students from 140 nations and strong partnerships with companies, it creates an environment in which diverse perspectives come together and students are specifically prepared for the demands of the working world.
