Career prospects, Soziale Arbeit | Social Work

Start your career in the social sector in Germany

The Soziale Arbeit | Social Work (B.A.) bachelor’s degree offers excellent career prospects in Germany, as the shortage of skilled professionals in the social sector has been growing for years and qualified staff are urgently needed. By integrating language acquisition, academic training, and professional accreditation, the programme offers a clear and reliable pathway into Social Work in Germany. Intercultural skills, multilingualism and an understanding of migration experiences are particularly valuable in this field. The programme is explicitly aimed at international students, as we believe that their perspectives and lived experiences enrich Social Work and society far beyond intercultural or interreligious dimensions. Possible areas of employment include:

  • Child and youth services
  • Migration and integration
  • Disability support
  • Counselling
  • Community development
  • Health and social services
  • … and many other areas of professional social work.

Your modules

The degree programme combines scientific principles with practical experience and a special focus on German for the profession. Three practical phases give you an in-depth insight into various areas of social work. In modules such as methodology, social space orientation, crisis intervention, aesthetic-media practice, professionalisation and law, you will work on projects, practise on real cases, go on excursions and take part in simulations. The five D-modules are a special feature of the programme: They combine specialist content with German language training and prepare you for important communication situations in the social field - for example, counselling interviews, written tasks, contact with authorities and legal texts. In this way, you will learn how to act confidently and get off to a successful start on the German labour market.

We will be happy to send you further information material. You will also find the complete curriculum there.

Smart financing

As a state-recognised private university, SRH University is financed by tuition fees. These revenues are used to equip our campuses, provide services for our students and ensure quality assurance. This enables us to ensure that you receive the best possible education under optimal study conditions.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees vary depending on the campus:

  • Berlin: € 690/month, non-EU: € 4,500/ semester
  • Fürth: € 690/month, non-EU: € 4,500/semester

The monthly fee remains the same throughout your entire course of study. The one-time enrolment fee is from € 750.

If you come from a non-EEA country without a residence permit, the enrolment fee is € 1,000 – you must pay the tuition fees for one semester in advance. From the second semester onwards, payments for the remaining semesters are due four weeks before the start of each respective semester.

Except for any placement, aptitude or equivalence tests that may be required, no separate examination fees or similar charges are levied, not even for repeat examinations. This gives you maximum cost transparency during your studies.

In addition to efficient organisation, goal-oriented studies also require a solid financial basis in order to pay rent, living expenses and tuition fees. There are various financing options available, such as education loans or scholarship programmes.

We have compiled a list of all financing options for you.
